Civic Innovation Fair 2019: Reflections on Facilitation

Pang Khee Teik: “Watching Jacqueline Ann Surin’s facilitation work taught me three important things: how to think about facilitation as a contract with the group, how to ask clean questions, ie. without baggage, and—this is something we activists are very bad at—how keeping things on time, even if you have to sacrifice longer discussions, creates time for people to do what they want on their own time, like pursue more personal discussions. Oh, and throwing balls around is a foolproof energiser. I’m happy to say this opinion is shared by many at the Innovation For Change – East Asia network.”
