COVID Conversations: Kate Galido on the Challenges Faced by Indigenous Peoples

Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines had no access to reliable and understandable information on COVID-19, which meant there were hardly any precautionary measures that could have helped them better prepare for the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Kate Galido of Non-Timber Forest Products – Exchange Programme in the Philippines said, “Even before the pandemic, indigenous peoples faced many challenges, including livelihood, food insecurity, access to healthcare, and social services… this COVID-19 lockdown just aggravated the challenges.”
