[EVENT] Innovation for Change – East Asia Hosts ‘Hope in the Time of Corona’ Series of COVID Conversations

‘Hope in the Time of Corona: COVID Conversations hosted by Innovation for Change – East Asia‘ brings together individuals, civil society organisations, and human rights defenders across East Asia and beyond to talk about the far-reaching challenges and opportunities borne by the pandemic, and to reimagine a new post-COVID-19 world.

The first conversation, ‘ASIAN SOLIDARITY: How the Marginalised Respond to COVID-19,’ is scheduled on 15 April 2020 at 4:30 in the afternoon (Kuala Lumpur / Manila time / UTC +8).

Both the pandemic and the economic fallout are greatly impacting everyone, but more so the groups at the margins. Reports have emerged about how impossible it is for the urban poor to practise social distancing in their living conditions, how the most invisible groups are potentially left out of the state’s outreach programmes, and how the hungry and the poor are being arrested for flouting laws when they venture out in hopes of finding food. At the same time, we hear stories of these communities responding to the crisis by stepping up to help each other, mobilising public volunteers and donations, and finding ways to ensure nobody is left behind.

Join us in this meaningful conversation on Zoom.
