Katrina Maliamauv of Malaysia provided several key insights during our first #COVIDConversations last week – from the effects of increased police and military presence brought on by the Movement Control Order to security concerns among those caught violating the MCO, including migrants and refugees further exposed to labour violations.
“Labour rights violations were already bad pre-pandemic; the risks are greater now. There are reports of migrants being fired or not getting paid, thus, being left homeless and abandoned.”
